Special Laws and Regulations on Kratom Use
Although some areas allow the use of kratom, its sale and consumption have certain regulations. Some of these special regulations include:
Denver, Colorado – kratom can’t be used for human consumption. There are also restrictions on how kratom products are packaged and labelled.
- Georgia – can only be consumed by people at least 18 years old.
- New Hampshire – can only be consumed by people at least 18 years old.
- Tennessee – can only be consumed by people at least 21 years old. Only pure kratom products are allowed.
In many states where kratom is legal, there’s a law known as the Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA). These laws protect kratom users by regulating the sale of kratom products. This includes setting a standard for the quality of kratom products, how kratom products are labelled, and requiring sellers to register their business. This ensures that users can legally and safely buy kratom products that meet the FDA’s standards on supplements.
As of now, the states that have the KCPA include:
- Arizona
- Georgia
- Nevada
- Oregon
- Utah
Is Kratom FDA-Approved?
