Early in 2021, the FDA petitioned The World Health Organization to do a critical review of kratom to consider it for scheduling. Testimony and SCIENCE were shared in fall of 2021. Recently, the WHO released a statement in response to the petition.
“The Committee concluded that there is insufficient evidence to recommend a critical review of kratom.”
It’s worthy to note that the FDA has continued using the same “insufficient” evidence to fight the legitimacy of kratom over the last decade. If it has been insufficient then, it will continue to be insufficient now and in the future.
As with anything great, the fight never ends. Kratom advocates continue to bring the Consumer Protection Act to the states and cities across the country. Lawmakers are beginning to support their constituents. Scientists are being heard. The momentum is positive.
This is a win you should all be proud of creating.
Thank you to everyone who has and continues to make this amazing plant available for us all!
