All I have to say is I wished I would have found this article when I first tried Kratom. It literally lays out everything I had to figure out myself, by trial and error. I thought I would share the experience I had the first time and how I went about learning about Kratom after and then buying it myself.
When I first started using Kratom I had tried the tea in a Kava bar. I asked the bartender what Kratom did and his response was it will relax you a bit. Kind of like having a drink but with less side affects. I was new to Kratom and didn’t have a lot to go on so I thought I will just try it. The tea tasted so refreshing I forgot I was having Kratom and ordered two.
In the middle of my second one, the bartender said, “you may want to slow down, this tea is strong.”
Oops. Apparently I had too much! I ended up with a nausea and a pretty good headache.
Needless-to-say I didn’t head back any time soon to try it again. A curious thing happened though. I went right to sleep when I got home. Not feeling well, but woke up with less pain than I had in a while after recovering from a car accident and a string of old injuries. This, coupled with my background in health and wellness, peaked my interest.
I did a little research to see what exactly I had and what it was used for. Apparently if you take Kratom in small doses it’s a stimulant and more of a sedative in higher doses. The headache could have just been the stress of my day, but from what I read, maybe the supplier of their Kratom wasn’t all-natural, organic or they over-processed their product. Quality matters here guys.
The effects you have will depend on the strain you take. I found Dakind Botanicals shortly after this experience and appreciated the vendor tests they published on their sites. They put an enormous amount of time into the safety and efficacy of their product, which made me want to try it. Then I just tried all three strains they offer. I tried one capsule at first, conservative on my first serving, given my previous experience. What I came to found out is that being precise in your measuring is important to know the affects on your own body. And the product being clean, organic and unadulterated is a must!
I tried Bali first. I noticed it improved symptoms from anxiety, improved my mood, gave me more energy, focus and I could have longer walks with my dog again. Then I tried Red Maeng Da. I love this strain because it’s a bit less energetic and I can take after work. Honestly, it’s better than having a glass of wine and it’s a plant. Lastly I tried Trainwreck. This is a full spectrum strain and ads some power into workouts for me. I tend to stick to Bali and Red Maeng Da most days now, but when I have an event I have to attend; a crazy project I am working on; I am traveling; or I am looking for an extra strong work out, I break it out.
I found Dakind’s product to be clean and headache free for me. I was pleasantly surprised! In summary, I appreciate the reminder in this article, that adverse affects can differ from person to person. I love this guide Dakind put together to guide you to finding the best use of Kratom for you.
